Lion Hamlet

This mound 40 meters was erected at the presumed location of the Prince of Orange (1792-1849) was wounded before becoming King of the Netherlands (1840 to 1849). It took three years, from 1823 to 1826, to erect this vast cone of earth. The lion perched on top, symbolizes the victory of monarchies. Based on the globe, "he announced that the rest of Europe conquered the plains of Waterloo," as wrote his architect.
